Rivalry for Good
A Friendly Rivalry. A Bigger Purpose.
As Seattle and Los Angeles face off in the NFC Championship, the YMCA of Greater Seattle and the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles are using this moment to show what sports can make possible beyond the scoreboard.
This challenge celebrates what sports give kids — connection, belonging, and joy — and what’s possible when communities show up together.

The Playbook
Across the Y, leaders and branches are leaning into a little competition to celebrate community, connection, and youth sports.
The stakes are part of the fun: the losing city’s CEO wears the winning team’s jersey, and a beloved Y space gets decorated in the winning team colors. Bragging rights are on the line — along with plenty of joy.
No matter the score, the real win is the same: showing what it looks like when communities show up for kids together.

Why Sports Matter
Sports matter — especially for kids. Through youth sports, the Y creates safe, inclusive spaces where young people build confidence, learn teamwork, and find a sense of belonging.
These experiences shape who kids become, on and off the field. Community support helps remove barriers so more kids can play, grow, and feel like they belong — not just during big games, but all year long.

Join the Rivalry for Good
Cheer for your team. Rep your city. Celebrate the moment.
And by giving, help ensure youth sports remain accessible, inclusive, and rooted in belonging long after the final whistle.
Community always wins.
